Skiing Isola 2000

We skied at Isloa 2000 over New Years (31 Dec, 1/2 Jan).

The snow conditions were good enough. All the runs on the south side of the resort, while cold, were in good condition. The runs on the north side were OK, but had few nasty rocks in places. Only a few red runs were open, but most of the blue/green runs were open.

We had sunshine for all three days. The temperatures were around zero during the day and -7 at night. As there was no wind, in the sun was quite warm. We ate on restaurant terraces each day for lunch.

The Bulletin d enneigement from the Nice Martin says Isola 2000 had 70/100cm and 37/45 pistes (7 vertes, 18 bleues, 11 rouges et 1 noires) et 22/23 remontees mecaniques ouvertes.

A Changeling Star by Jeffrey A. Carver

Working to explode a star to make worm hole gateways, and nanotech to regenerate body parts makes a fairly believable SF world. The surprise ending was not a surprise.

The story moves at a decent pace and the readability only drags 2-3 times.
